Spring Break 2025
Spring also comes with Spring break. Luckily, 🐻 and I managed to arrange our schedules to be with our dear Princess. He got the first week of spring break with her and I chose the second week, I want to take advantage of the “Cherry Blossom/Spring Themed craze” as much, so MY plans were food-oriented activities.

Our Daily routine for the week consisted of a quick stop at a local coffee house chain - Waves coffee for my Matcha or chai latte, a cup of Yogurt Parfait for us to share for breakfast/snack. A treat she immensely enjoyed. Attending her dance class And off we go to our dessert destination.
Our first stop was Coffee Loft for their Cherry Blossom Food Fest Menu Feature. Sakura Zen Matcha Latte and Strawberry Matcha Cookie Set. (below). I ordered a Strawberry Cookie Frappe for my Dear Princess. I find the cookie too sweet and a bit dry, but the Matcha latte was refreshing. It was a good treat to fuel us for that afternoon when we spent it setting up “The cafe” where we started taking out my plant babies while putting away the greenhouse at the same time,
I also noticed that my dear girl seems interested in hanging out in “the cafe” often lately. She’s curious about our plant collections and appreciates seeing all the cherry blossoms and quinces in the cafe.
The Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea experience at the Notch 8 - Fairmont Vancouver solidified her fascination with cherry blossoms. This is the second time we have done a themed afternoon Tea together in Fairmont, she vividly remembered the bookshelf door concealing the tea room, which she thought that the Tea room is a secret, magical place. To match the menu, the tea room was decorated with pink and white flowers, providing an indoor “Hanami” experience, a powerful spell for a girl who loves the color pink. After this afternoon tea experience, We both enjoyed our scones and treats but the one that made a lasting impact to my dear Girl was the “Hanami”-like experience. she started noticing all the flowering trees she sees along the way and sometimes ask me if they are a cherry blossom or what kind of flowers they are. I take this as positive sign that she might take gardening as a hobby someday… appreciation of a plant is a great start. For more reinforcement, I have bought few more flowering plants in “the cafe”, hopefully with my positive intentions and hard work would keep my plant babies happy so they continuosly bloom and flourish - like my daughter who I pray that she grows into a healthy, smart and kind adult!
My plans may have been more into dessert-oriented, but I have introduced something more meaningful - appreciation of nature.
Maybe its time for next Afternoon tea…
