Girls’Saturday Outing

My sister whom I consider the greatest Aunt in the world, signed up my daughter for an Etiquette class for a day being held in Vancouver. Seeing an opportunity for my dear Girl to experience learning about how to conduct herself properly in certain situations, I welcomed this opportunity, and a day for the three of us to go out together, luckily, that day didn’t rain.

After dropping my dear Girl off at the Fairmont Pacific Rim and knowing we had a few hours of free time, we decided to visit another cafe for their Cherry blossom theme Offering on the Menu where we could relax for a bit.

Sakura Latte with Lychee & Jasmine Cream Puff and a cherry Danish from Bel Cafe

Sticking to trying the seasonal drink, I ordered the Sakura latte and the preserved BC Cherry Danish and added a cream puff to share as we both have the same weakness for anything creamy or dairy, which was greeted with a few hushes of compliments as I carried it back to our table, with “pinky treats” My sister and spent the pleasant hour of chit chat and people watching.

To burn some of the calories we earned from the indulgence by walking around Downtown Vancouver and checking out H-Mart to browse their beauty section, and I got myself a few essentials. After I paid for the things I have bought, I was presented a receipt with a stamp, the store attendant explained that I was entitled for a free drink at the Cafe Monet, coffee shop a few steps, with another hour free time left, I told my sister to just dropped to check this place out and redeem the free coffee and temptation presented again in a form of a Cream Soboro….

Cafe Monet is A Korean Bakery Cafe, a few doors down from H-Mart. My sister pointed out a sign where we can get a free Americano when we purchase more than $40 in H-Mart, with rows of displays of goodies, the one that caught our eyes was the Cream Soboro, aside the creamy filling, It resembles a Melon Pan and Melon is a distant relative of Concha bread..

Out of curiosity, I bought the creamy Soboro for us to share and added another hundred calories to burn..

We head back to Fairmont to pick up my Lil’ Princess from Cafe Monet, As the door opened, she greeted us with a big smile, proudly showed her goodie bag, and shared her experience in the class. The Greatest Aunt was delighted to hear her stories and told my daughter that we would head next to Indigo to buy her some books and Lunch.

The love of reading runs in our family on both sides. I am starting again to find time to read during downtime and for my daughter to emulate this hobby. But luckily, the love of reading came to her naturally. At the age of six, she received her first Harry Potter. We started reading to her since she was a toddler with standard nursery Rhymes and other baby books, Goodnight Moon and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It’s a hobby that we truly celebrate in the family. The Greatest Aunt, spoiled my little Princess during lunch with Fish and Chips at Joe Fortes a specific request from LP (little Princess) because she only likes to eat the “chips”, while the Greatest Aunt and I shared a creme brûlée for dessert!

With full tummies and a bag filled with books, three of us contentedly came back home and savour the sunshine for the rest of the day!
